Kim Bensen... 212lbs Lighter

By The 700 Club

CBN.com At nearly 350 pounds, Kim had trouble walking, breathing, and fitting behind a steering wheel. She had outgrown most plus size clothing stores and was still gaining daily.

“I felt desperate and powerless to stop eating,” she says.

In high school Kim fluctuated up and down 10-15 pounds in a yo-yo cycle that would haunt her for years. In college the spread of pounds grew to 30, then 40. Kim lost weight for her wedding in 1984, but soon gained it all back and more. For the first time in her life she was over 200 pounds.

For the next 10 years Kim struggled up and down in the 200 pound range; for 10 years after that in the 300 pound range.

She tried every low carb, high protein, low sugar, shake-supplemented, pill popping, etc, weight loss program in existence – including Weight Watchers a “million” times.

Walking was difficult. Her cholesterol was astronomically high. She had no lap for her children, and, if she continued along the same path, her children would have no mother at all. She was eating herself to death.

Then, on October 1, 2001, Kim cried out to God in a desperate, broken prayer which would change her heart … and her life. Three days later she walked through the doors to Weight Watchers and weighed in at 347 pounds. For two years she dragged her energetic young boys to meetings. She planned her meals, drank water, weighed, measure and recorded.

She focused on changing recipes and behaviors from the inside out. It became more fun. In the end Kim lost 212 pounds, lowered her cholesterol more than 200 points, lost an inch and a half in each wrist alone, an went down from a size 4x to a size 4. The weight loss has made countless practical differences in her life; she can walk through a restaurant without having to lay out a strategic map to see what tables she can fit between, can finally buckle up, can fit in any chair, etc.
