Victoria Jackson: Spared From Murder

CBN.comVictoria Jackson was a slave to crack cocaine. She did just about everything to get it, including prostitution. Getting her next fix was more important than anything – even her own children.

“Getting high, leaving my kids - you know, not thinking about them – all my money going on dope,” Victoria said.

When she was 15, she got pregnant and dropped out of high school. While her mother took care of her child, Victoria threw herself into the party lifestyle.

“I was liking the way I felt when I got high, the way I felt when I was drinking,” Victoria said.

By her mid-20s, Victoria married and divorced twice and had three more children. That’s when she turned to crack cocaine with some friends.

“She hooked up the pipe and she passed it around. It kind of made me nervous at first, but then I kind of liked the feeling,” Victoria said.

Victoria instantly became an addict and started hanging out at a crack house.

“I didn’t know how much affect it had on me. All I know is I wanted the next high,” Victoria said.

Soon she lost her job as a cook and turned to prostitution to make money.

“When I would prostitute my body for drugs, I would get into cars,” Victoria said, “and the worst time would be when I got into a car one time, and this man told me, ‘my intentions is to kill you, but there’s something about you that I can’t kill you.’”

For eight years, Victoria sold her body for crack cocaine. She lost her children when her mother put them into foster care.

“And it finally hit me that I got to get my life right, I got to get this thing together,” Victoria said.

Victoria checked herself into detox for a week. That’s when she heard about a former crack addict who now ran a drug treatment center for women. Her name was Pastor Kimberly Daniels.

Victoria learned that God could free her from her addiction.

“We had somebody come teach us Bible study and we were learning about the Lord and how to stay free,” she said.

By now, Victoria’s children were turned over to the custody of her mother and she desperately wanted to make things right.

“I would pray, ‘Lord, teach me how to be a mother to my children. Teach me how to talk to my children.’ Cause I didn’t realize how hurt they were,” Victoria said.

But, Victoria relapsed and went missing for days. That’s when Pastor Kim went looking for her.

“You know, most of the time she’d meet some guy and she’d sneak off with him and he’d lead her right back to that lifestyle of those drugs,” Pastor Kim said.

One night, Victoria had a terrible dream that a fellow prostitute and close friend named Linda had been killed in a drug deal. She then believes her friend spoke to her from beyond the grave.

“She’s saying, ‘Victoria, do the right thing. It’s hot down here.’ Referring to hell,” Victoria said. “And I woke up shaking and crying. I realized then I wanted to live. I didn’t want to die. I didn’t want to go to hell.”

“The day I gave my life to the Lord, I was at the altar and said, ‘God, I surrender all to you. I give it all to you. I give the devil back his stuff. I don’t want nothing that he has. Nothing’ I said, ‘God, take everything out that’s not like you,’” Victoria said.

Over time, Victoria was completely set free from her eight year addiction to crack cocaine.

“I had to walk this thing daily. I had to speak out loud all the time. I had to let that Word get down on the inside of me for real,” she said.

Today, Victoria is helping other women get set free from their addictions. God has even restored her relationship with her adult children.

“Hey, I’ve been forgiven from God,” Victoria said, “and now that I’ve tasted the Lord; he is good, so good.”
