GUEST BIO

Cristina Ferrare on Home and Family

By The 700 Club

HOME AND FAMILY REVAMPED
In 1996, Cristina was the host of the original “Home and Family” show along with Chuck Woolery and later Michael Berger for 4 years when it was on The Family Channel.  Then when the Family Channel was sold, the show went off the air.  Last year Hallmark decided to revamp the show and bring on hosts Mark Steines (“Stine-us”) and Page Davis who left 6 weeks into production.  When the producers called Cristina to come out of semi-retirement, she thought it would be fun.  For the last 10 months, Cristina says they have been having a great time.  The show was nominated for an Emmy, which is unusual for a freshman series.  The show is live 2 hours every weekday on the Hallmark Channel.   The new season starts on Monday, September 30.

PASSION FOR COOKING
Cristina has always loved cooking.  Her fifth book and most recent was “A Big Bowl of Love,” which was released in 2011.  She will demonstrate her favorite recipe: Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce.  “It’s Henry Winkler’s favorite,” she says.  Cristina brought him on the “Home and Family” show on a recent segment.

CAREER
Cristina started her career as a supermodel for the elite Ford Modeling Agency in the 1970s.  Her face graced the cover of numerous magazines over a 25 year period.  In the 80s, Cristina cohosted “AM Los Angeles” which was the number 1 rated show during her 5 year tenure.  She also hosted “Cristina and Friends,” “Home and Family,” and was substitute co-host for many shows.  She has spoken at numerous conventions around the country.  In 2006, she started a line of home accessories with 2 other partners, and then in 2011 they sold the company to a leading worldwide manufacturer and distributor of life style products.

Cristina lives in Los Angeles with her entertainment executive husband Tony Thomopoulos.  They have a blended family of 7 children and 4 grandchildren.
