CBN.com – For twenty years, Rabbi Lapin has stood by Christian leaders who are working together to resist what he calls, America’s secular slide. He believes that his allies and friends have battled to keep the Bible as a guide, and to remind the citizens of America that its founding and continued success is bound up with God’s biblical blueprint.
"As an Orthodox Jewish rabbi, I am convinced that fervent Christianity is one of God’s strongest tools today for saving our country,” he says.
Rabbi Lapin believes that Americans need to find Biblical faith, and for those who have it, to be strengthened in that faith; in fact, to see its relevance to every part of life.
“As I speak around the country I find growing numbers of people questioning their own traditional value systems. Many feel discouraged because their religious beliefs are constantly assaulted,” he says.
As a result, Rabbi Lapin created Genesis Journeys, a series of audio programs that transform a well known Bible tale from being merely a story about long-ago-times into a powerful and profound divine message for improving one’s life. It presents the Bible as the manufacturer’s handbook. Here is an overview of the first four volumes of the Genesis Journey’s series:
THE TOWER OF POWER CD SERIES
The Tower of Power is the first volume out of the Genesis Journeys series with a message that provides practical wisdom to strengthen faith and family by shining a biblical light on current events, and empowering people to make smart life choices. It is believed that some of the material which made up the Bible was originally transmitted orally – that is, by word of mouth, so Rabbi Lapin decided to produce Tower of Power as an audio program as a way to replicate the oral transmission.
“The Bible is the most significant document in the history of the world. I realize I have a mission to bring the Bible’s message back to the people,” he says. “We’re concerned that people don’t know how to explain the importance of biblical traditional values.”
His strategy is to apply ancient solutions such as ancient Jewish wisdom to modern problems in the three critical areas of human life: Family, Faith and Finances. The ancient wisdom Rabbi Lapin uses converts the stories of the Bible into vital facts and practical information to enhance people’s lives.
THE LORD’S LANGUAGE
Twenty years ago, Rabbi Lapin was passing through California, trying to escape from following in the footsteps of his father who is a rabbi. He began teaching classes in living rooms in a beachside neighborhood in Santa Monica, California. Eager students crowded the sessions and many applicants had to be turned away. These sessions led to the rise of the Pacific Jewish Center, the congregation that Rabbi Lapin led for 15 years.
The essence of the studies featured the Hebrew language as a unique, precious window into the mind of God and a pathway to Jewish wisdom and tradition. (One brilliant student was his future wife, Susan. Today they have seven children, ages 16 – 26, which are home-schooled.)
In 1991, Rabbi Lapin relocated to the Northwest and formed Toward Tradition, a national educational movement of Jews and Christians seeking to advance the nation toward traditional, faith-based, American principles.
