CBN.com -PASTOR HAYFORD AND EMPOWERED21
The Spirit-empowered Christianity (the new name being given to the current move of the Holy Spirit) started with a handful of Christians in the early 20th Century (with the Pentecostal Movement, Azusa Street, and Charismatic Movement).  Now it numbers over 600 million people in almost every culture and denomination.  For the 21st Century, Spirit-empowered Christianity is

For more than 56 years, Dr. Hayford has worked in ministry.  He is best known for founding and pastoring The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California for over thirty years.  Dr. Hayford also began The King’s University in 1997 and currently serves as its chancellor.  He served as fourth President of The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.  Also, he teaches a weekly, half-hour television program, Spirit-Formed with Pastor Jack Hayford and hosts a radio program, Living Way.  In addition to these he has written more than 52 books and composed 600 hymns and choruses, including the internationally known and widely recorded "Majesty.”  Dr. Hayford has been called a "bridge-builder," because he helps to form strong bonds among all segments of the Body of Christ.   He is also recognized for his balanced approach to preaching the Word.   His desire to bring unity across all denominational and racial boundaries has given him an open door to minister in all capacities.  A few years ago, he became co-chair of Empowered21 (E21) USA with Pastor Billy Wilson (of Awakening America Alliance).  Empowered21 holds intergenerational congresses joining people from around the world to understand and respond to what God is saying about the future of Spirit-empowered Christianity (a.k.a. The Charismatic Movement) in the 21st century.   Empowered21 was formed to bring together Christian scholars, church leaders and next generation participants to converse about the current manifestations of the Holy Spirit throughout the world’s cultures, church denominations and generations.  The first meeting was in Tulsa, Oklahoma on the Oral Roberts University campus in April 2010.  What transpired at that conference began a formal dialogue of the move of the Holy Spirit for the 21st century.  Converge21 USA was then created to continue those conversations.  At the heart of these gatherings is the emphasis on the teaching of the Holy Spirit, raising up a generation that is biblically literate, and for spiritual mothers and fathers to walk alongside the upcoming generation and equip them as in Malachi 4.

CONVERGE21 USA – FEBRUARY 29 – MARCH 3 AT REGENT UNIVERSITY
Converge21 USA is the first-ever joint conference of Empowered21 and the Society for Pentecostal Studies (SPS) to unite leaders, scholars, and Next Generation voices.  This will be a week-long gathering at Regent University
from February 29 – March 3, 2012.  Their focus will be on the future of the Spirit-empowered movement in America with all of its aspects, including the social justice/righteousness (the SPS program focus this year).  There will be scholarly presentations, practical learning conversations, and general sessions designed to encourage and teach on challenges facing the movement.  The goal is to be more than just an instructional and connecting event.  There will also be periods of reflection and releasing spiritual power.  They are expecting that this assembly will have prophetic and spiritual revelation for the church in the USA.  Some of the discussion topics include:  domestic and global evangelism, the next generations and the Holy Spirit, theological challenges of the Spirit-empowered church, and discipleship.  Some of the featured speakers include: Dr. Jack Hayford, Robert Morris, Ron Luce, Jeffrey Gros, James Robison, Wellington Boone, Banning Liebscher, Dr. Vinson Synan, Bishop Harry Jackson, David Edwards, Ricardo Sanchez, and Cindy Jacobs.

Dr. Hayford’s heart is to serve the next generation.  He will be leading the “Next-Gen” sessions (sessions where the upcoming generation partners with the older generation) and serving in whatever capacity needed.  He says some of areas that young leaders have asked him to talk about are: how to manage their personal lives to line up with God, how to respond to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, how to keep the Word alive, how to cultivate depth and ministry, and developing the Word and response.

Dr. Hayford says the work that the Holy Spirit is doing is going deep and spreading.  There is a fresh hunger and desire for the Truth.  People want the age-old Truth but want to know how to interpret it for today.  Empowered21 has groups that are meeting on each continent.  It is exciting because people are nurturing, encouraging, sharing, and teaching one another.

MORE ABOUT DR. HAYFORD
Dr. Hayford knows the awesome power of God firsthand. When he was a baby, he was gripped by a life-threatening illness. But as a result of the earnest prayers of friends and family, he was miraculously healed. The doctors had no other explanation except that the grace of God snatched him back from the brink of death. Several years later, Dr. Hayford was struck down again by sickness. This time it was polio. The church elders anointed him and prayed for his recovery. God heard their petitions and granted a second miracle. These two extraordinary events ignited a passion in his heart for God and convinced him that the Holy Spirit is alive and active in the contemporary church. "Contrary to our preconceptions, God is not economical with healings and miracles. Such wondrous works are frequently attending the proclamation of truth in Jesus' name," asserts Dr. Hayford.

The Bible says that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16, KJV). Through the years, Dr.  Hayford has spent much time teaching on the topic of prayer and how it is important to The Body of Christ.
