Liz Vaccariello: The Flat Belly Cook

CBN.com MUFAS
Flat Belly Diet author Liz Vaccariello says the latest research shows that there are astonishing benefits to monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAS). These plant-based fats are found in foods like olives, avocados, chocolate, nuts, seeds and legumes. Scientists have found that MUFAS enhance heart health, protect against chronic disease and may help promote weight loss.  As a vital energy source, MUFAS slow digestion which in turn slows the release of blood sugar and helps you feel full. It also helps your body absorb vitamins such as A, D, E and K and helps manufacture cell membranes as well as hormone-like compounds that regulate blood pressure, heart rate, blood vessel constriction, blood clotting and the nervous system.

Research shows that a moderate-fat, MUFA-rich diet produced better weight loss results long term than a low-fat diet. A British Journal of Nutrition report showed that by simply replacing saturated fats with unsaturated ones helped overweight people lose pounds and body fat without reducing caloric intake or adding exercise.
