CBN.comAs former Senior Medical Officer of the largest hospital in America, Florida Hospital, and current CEO of Florida Hospital’s state of the art medical facility – Celebration Health, Dr. Monica Reed has made a lifetime commitment to Whole Person Health. Dr. Monica Reed, 42, has an extensive resume. Dr. Reed, a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, is a board-certified obstetrician / gynecologist who has dedicated her medical career to promoting health, healing and wellness.

Dr. Reed equally loves medical practice and teaching. In 1992, she moved to reach a broader audience than her patients in the examination room. She became the Associate Director of Florida Hospital's Family Practice Residency program helping to train physicians in all aspects of female health. Also in 1992 she assumed directorship of the Loch Haven OBGYN group - a hospital based practice dedicated to comprehensive women's health care. During this time Dr. Reed served as medical advisor for Florida Hospital and frequently taught the community on a variety of health-related and lifestyle issues. She has been a featured speaker at annual meetings of both the National Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Practitioners.

Harnessing her gifts of education and public speaking and her passion for lifestyle behavioral change, in 1997 she became the medical news reporter for WFTV (ABC affiliate) in Orlando, and later WAFF (NBC affiliate) in Huntsville, Alabama. Her tenure on television included a weight reduction and fitness program for the greater Orlando area. The ability to reach thousands of people with important health news and information remains one of her greatest joys.

While serving as a medical news reporter, Dr. Reed concurrently became the Medical Director of Women's Medicine at Celebration Health - a state of the art medical facility whose focus is not only on curing disease but also on promoting wellness. As Director, she established a clinical foundation of care that gave equal emphasis to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions of health. Dr. Reed is co-author of a book entitled Creation Health Discovery about living the principles of Whole Person Health which has sold over 160,000 copies and is used in hospitals, homes and churches around America.

In 2000, Dr. Reed accepted the position of Senior Medical Officer for Florida Hospital. Her varied responsibilities include clinical quality, research and innovation, risk management and the medical affairs of the Hospital's 2000 physicians.

She remains active in the community and serves as board member of Orlando's Healthy Start Coalition and of Orlando's Health Care Center for the Homeless. She is a member of several professional societies and author of articles for both professional and lay journals.

In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Reed was voted Orlando's "Downtown Woman of the Year" by the Women's Executive Council in 1996, Alumna of the Year for Loma Linda University by the Black Alumni Association in 1997, and one of Loma Linda University's Outstanding Women Alumni in 1998. Dr. Reed believes in "practicing what she preaches". In 1999, Dr. Reed was a finalist for Heart and Soul magazine's fitness competition, and in 2002 placed fourth in a local fitness competition in Orlando.

She has been married for 15 years to Stanton Reed, and has two lovely daughters, Megan 12, and Melanie, 10.
