Rev. Billy Wilson: Cry Out America

By The 700 Club

CRYING OUT TO THE LORD
Billy says our nation continues facing deepening moral and spiritual challenges.  These challenges affect both the Church and our culture.  He believes strategic prayer is desperately needed to call both the Church and nation to repentance and to strengthen the biblical foundations upon which our nation was established.  For the last four years, Cry Out America has been encouraging individuals to gather at their county courthouses across the nation.

Last year, 850 counties participated and ranged in attendance from 10 to 3,000 people.  The courthouses are a symbol of justice.  “We must experience a new national awakening in our generation,” says Billy.  He reminds us of the scripture in Joel 1:14, Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly.  Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

This year, 9/11 is on a Sunday and it is the10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.  This year, they are asking pastors to take a moment to remember and pray for America the crisis we’re in and the spiritual need we have in this country.  “It’s a unique opportunity to unite in prayer for America in this season,” says Billy.  While thousands have signed up and committed to praying on 9/11, he is encouraging all pastors to unite and pray for America on 9/11.  “The nation is in spiritual crisis and it’s deeper than any economic journey we are on,” he says.  “It is a deep need to regain who we are in Christ in America.”

Billy says he is seeing signs of awakening, like an increased desire for God witnessed by increased fasting and prayer.  Many churches are talking about awakening.  “There is a real hunger among young people and a desire to change the world,” says Billy.  “We want these desires to increase and grow.”  Last January, they had over 2 million people fasting and seeking God for personal renewal.  “We feel like it’s one sign that we are headed in the right direction.”

Billy serves as the Executive Director of the International Center for spiritual Renewal.  Their mission is to help restore spiritual integrity, promote scriptural unity and encourage social responsibility in the body of Christ.
