CBN.comOPEN ONLINE COURSES
This January, Regent University launched an exclusive platform for massive open online courses (MOOCs).  The course is called LUXVERA™ (meaning light and truth) and will offer high quality, Christian higher education courses online to anyone with internet access.  Being open means anyone can participate, and being online allows students to take a course from nearly anywhere for free. Regent is the first Christian university offering a MOOC on their own proprietary platform.  MOOCs are the latest progression in higher education since they allow universities to attract more students and provide innovate styles of learning.  More than 6 million students are enrolled in the two biggest MOOC platforms today.  Regent professors are creating the course material for LUXVERA™.  The content will be presented in a highly innovative fashion with lectures and driven by video material provided by Regent, CBN and the American Center for Law and Justice.  These highly interactive courses include projects, quizzes and exams.  No textbooks are necessary.  A course forum will provide an instant way for you to ask questions and staff members will monitor the forums to answer questions.

The first 3 courses were developed by Dr. Corné Bekker.  The first one is entitled, “Who is Jesus?.” The second, “What did Jesus Teach?” and the third,   “Why Did Jesus Come?”  Corné says these courses reveal the nature, the message and the mission of Jesus.  The courses also explore the divine inspiration, authority and readings of the New Testament writings (the Gospels) that are the primary source for understanding the life and ministry of Jesus.  “There are enduring questions that have pervaded all of human history.  Who is He, what did He say and what was His mission.  More books have been written about Jesus than any other historical figure. Once we discover the true nature of Christ, we discover our very identity. So when we understand the mission of God in Jesus, we understand what it means to truly be human,” says Corné.

With new insights, students will be able to consider the identity, relevance and challenge of Jesus for the 21st century world. “LUXVERA fits perfectly with the mission of Regent University, which is to provide transformative Christian education to all parts of the world,” says Dr. Pat Robertson, Regent founder, chancellor and CEO.

To register, visit www.Luxvera.Regent.edu.  Those who complete LUXVERA™ courses will be considered for advanced standing status at Regent upon enrolling as a degree-seeking student.  For-credit courses will be offered in 2015 as well as fully accredited degrees.  Future courses will include such topics as entrepreneurship, business, government, law, Christian ministry, literature, history, ethics, media and many others.  Courses can be taken for personal development as well as in pursuit of certificates of mastery.  Registration is open to individuals over the age of 13.   Guest instructors include Pat and Gordon Robertson, Josh McDowell, etc.
