THE 400 CALORIE FIX
The 400 Calorie Fix is based on the idea that we need to get back to basics – no more lists of what we can and can’t eat, no more cutting entire categories of food out of our diets – the easiest way to lose weight is to eat four, 400 calorie meals every day. It's the easiest weight loss solution ever because it's one simple rule: you learn to see the world through a 400-calorie lens by learning what 400 calories looks like.

The reason 400 calories is a good quantity is because it’s the right amount to keep you active and satisfied until your next meal. Plus, it allows for variety of tastes and textures, as well as disease-fighting nutrients.      If you’re worried that eating just 400 calories a meal will leave you hungry, especially compared to the amount that you usually eat, I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how satisfied you are with 400-calorie meals.

The 400 Calorie Fix is uncomplicated and can be followed anywhere without drastic changes to your lifestyle.  Once you learn correct portion sizes and start to see the world through the “400 Calorie Lens” you’ll achieve your weight loss goals – just by following one simple rule.   This plan is proven to work: Sixteen women and men followed the plan and lost up to 11 pounds and 3 belly inches in just 2 weeks -- and continued to lose in the months that followed.

THE RIGHT 400 CALORIE MEAL PLAN FOR YOU
If you’re a woman who is of average size and who has an average activity level, you need about 1,600 calories per day to maintain a healthy weight -four, 400-calorie meals. Anything lower for a sustained amount of time isn’t feasible or healthy; you’ll feel deprived and succumb to cravings. Sticking to 1,600 calories per day is the safest way to lose weight and keep energy up.  Men will consume more calories.  2,000 calories per day is how much an adult man of average height, size, and activity level needs to get down to his ideal body weight while maintaining strong muscles and high energy levels.

400 CALORIE SUMMERTIME FIX
Summer is the season for fun, get-togethers, and of course, food.  There are many meal options you can have when you’re out that can still be part of the 400 Calorie Fix plan:

At a cookout, a great general tip is to decide on one main item – usually a burger or a hotdog – and then build your meal from there.  Don’t overdo it with sauces and condiments (like BBQ sauce, ketchup, and relish, which often contain added sugar.  Unless you decide to go meatless, doubling up on a burger or dog will put you over your 400 calories.  Here are some cookout food choices:

-Burger combo - a 3oz. ground turkey burger (with lettuce, tomato, and bun) and a 1” thick watermelon wedge with large unsweetened iced tea

TOTAL CALORIES: 400

-2 BBQ chicken thighs with 2 tbsp barbeque sauce  (270 calories) and 1 medium ear corn on the cob and 2tsp butter (150 calories)

TOTAL CALORIES: 420

-Either can be consumed with water or 1 cup unsweetened iced tea (0 calories)

At the ball park, many of them have answered consumer demand for more nutritious food options, and numerous vendors now offer healthy, nutritious food.  However, keep in mind when you consume ball park beverages they are usually 24 ounces – that’s twice the amount and twice the calories.  Here are some ball park snack choices:

-A 4oz pretzel (about 6”) [with mustard dip] and one 16 oz. Diet Coke (0 Calories) (390 calories)
- Grilled sausage (about the size of a regular hot dog) on bun with peppers and onions (450 calories)

-Either can be consumed with water or diet cola (0 calories)

At the movies, it’s not just about seeing a movie, it’s about the snacks.  Snack slowly.  Research shows that if you eat slowly for the first ten minutes, you will eat less overall.  Learn to pace yourself for ten minutes and you’ll find yourself satisfied with a smaller meal.  Popcorn is not the healthiest choice, but if you want it, have a small bag with no toppings. If you want something sweet, check the label for calories.  Most candy choices at the theater are large boxes and may be up to 800 calories.  If this is the case, split it with a friend or eat half for the show and save the rest for later.  Here are some movie theater snack choices:
-1 small order of popcorn (7 cups, no topping) with water (420 calories)
-1 Kit Kat King Size Bar (1 3-oz. bar) (400 calories)

-Either can be consumed with water or diet cola (0 calories)
