CBN.com ENTERTAINMENT EXECUTIVE

Martha began her career in comedy with the producing teams for Carol Burnett and Joan Rivers.  Later she went on to write and produce situation comedies such as “The Facts of Life,” “Family Man” and “Jack’s Place.”  One of her most notable successes was her role as executive producer for the CBS series, Touched By An Angel (TBAA) from 1994 to 2003.  During the nine-year run, the inspirational family drama garnered a weekly audience of 25 million viewers and a billion dollar franchise.  Martha successfully guided the series into previously unchartered territory with her unique brand of storytelling that produced more than strong ratings: it changed lives.

She also sealed her place in history as the first woman to solely executive-produce two one-hour dramas simultaneously.  “Promised Land” aired for three years on CBS.  Her work has since been inducted into the Television and Radio Hall of Fame and honored with numerous awards, including the Edward R. Murrow Responsibility in Television Award, the Templeton Prize Ephiphany Award and nine Emmy nominations.  She has earned the reputation as the “go-to” executive for inspirational family entertainment.

CHRISTIMAS ENTERTAINMENT

When Hallmark asked Martha to write and executive produce a Christmas movie, she took them seriously and wrote a movie about Christmas!  Signed Sealed Delivered for Christmas, set to air on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel Sunday, Nov. 23 at 9/8pm, is a fresh reminder of classic Christmas movies in the tradition of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street"  - asking difficult questions and finding joyful answers that reflect the miracle of Christmas.

Every year as Christmas gets closer, the emphasis leans more and more towards getting ready for the holidays with decorations, sales, recipes, etc. But Martha's movie focuses on how to prepare our hearts for Christmas. Her story grapples with the challenges we all eventually face when our hearts have been broken for one reason or another and peace on earth suddenly isn't so easy to find. But there is peace and joy beyond what we can see or feel. And Martha's laugh-while-you-cry movie goes beyond romance, beyond mystery and holiday high jinks, unapologetically rejoicing in the true meaning of Christmas.

“As much as the television landscape has changed, the audience for positive and inspiring programming hasn’t gone anywhere,” says Williamson. Her “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” series starring Eric Mabius (“Ugly Betty”), Kristin Booth (“The Kennedys”), Crystal Lowe (“Smallville”) and Geoff Gustafson (“Primeval: New World”) is a wonderful combination of romance, comedy and drama that follows the lives of four postal workers who transform themselves into an untraditional team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Their missions take them out of the office into an unpredictable world where letters from the past can change lives when they arrive late but somehow on time.

Williamson said, "A letter can restore a relationship or change the world.  Half of the New Testament is made up of letters, mostly from Paul, but also from Peter, James, John and Jude.  Letters are forever.”

If you've missed any episodes of Signed, Sealed, Delivered, all of season 1 is now on iTunes! #POstables.

In honor of the 20 year anniversary of the premiere of Touched By An Angel, CBS and Paramount are re-releasing the 2-hour episodes in new DVDs.

Martha's production company, MoonWater productions, is expanding her brand of inspirational storytelling into more TV series and upcoming feature films. To stay in touch with Martha and get the latest news, like her on Facebook and follow her on Twitter.
