New Jersey Governor Resigns, May Face Gay Lawsuit

August 13, 2004

CBN.com(CBN News) - New Jersey Governor James McGreevey is facing a possible sexual harrassment lawsuit, from a man.

The news follows a stunning admission by the Democratic governor Thursday.

McGreevey said, "I am a gay American engaged in an adult consensual affair with another man."

McGreevey also told reporters he is resigning as New Jersey's governor, effective November 15th. Apparently, not because he is gay, but because of a potential lawsuit from his former lover, Golan Cipel.

McGreevey met Cipel in Israel. Cipel moved to the states and McGreevey gave him a high- ranking job as New Jersey's anti-terrorism czar. But Cipel wasn't qualified for the job.

The Roman Catholic McGreevey has been married twice and has children.

More Biometric Devices Being Used for Business Transactions

(CBN News) - Get ready to see more biometrics in your buying and selling. Biometrics uses technology to identify people by their fingerprints, iris scans, and so on.

Now, at the Statue of Liberty, visitors can pay for temporary lockers by touching an electronic reader that scans their fingerprints.

And European airports are starting to use iris scans to identify people. Some grocery stores are testing systems that let consumers check out by touching a fingerprint scanner.

One reason for the new technology: credit card fraud and identity theft.
