Reduce Your Heart Disease and Stroke Risk

CBNNews.com - The American Heart Association says that nearly every American woman faces the dangers of heart disease and stroke.

The association has issued new guidelines aimed at cutting the risks. These include:

· Exercise regularly

· Eat a low-fat diet

· Don't smoke

· Keep weight under control

· Take fish oil supplements if you have heart disease.

The guidelines also include taking an aspirin daily, but some sources, including cardiologist Dr. Russell Blaylock,  take issue with that, saying that aspirin causes stomach bleeding.

Dr. Blaylock recommends taking vitamin E instead.

Doctors say heart disease is the number-one killer worldwide.

And a Japanese study found that green tea protects against stroke. Researchers looked at more than 40,000 people who drink tea.

Heavy green tea drinkers were also less likely to die of cardiovascular disease than people who drink only a little tea.

But the big tea drinkers in Japan also tend to eat more produce, which could also account for the finding.
