New Video: Senator Vitter Gets on Rudy Express

Everybody will spin this a certain way but to me, the fact that Senator David Vitter from Louisiana has come out and endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President is a huge boost to Rudy's campaign. For the first time, you really have a true blue social conservative Senator backing Giuliani. Yes, Rudy has other Congressman but getting endorsed by moderate Republican Michael Castle and others ain't gonna do the trick. Vitter is different. He's passionately pro-life and pro-traditional marriage. Now, he's going to help Rudy as one of his lieutenants in the South. Here's the money quote from Senator Vitter at today's press conference:
"I'm convinced that Rudy Giuliani isn't running for president to push forward in an aggressive way some liberal social agenda. I think you're going to see that isn't what his campaign is about."
So far, that's my sense too. A Giuliani Presidency won't be about pushing the social issues BUT social conservatives want a President to push these issues. That's the rub. With Giuliani, the best social conservatives can hope for is he nominates judges who are strict constructionists.
