British Hostages Thank Ahmadinejad For His 'Forgiveness'

See, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad isn't such a bad guy after all. Not only did Iran
release 15 British hostages today after nearly two weeks of huffing, puffing and bluffing from both Iranian and (pathetically so, I might add) British government officials. Ahmadenijad actually
wished them well and
defended the honor of the only female hostage, to boot! As
Rosie O'Donnell will tell you, Mahmoud is a swell guy.
Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth, experts realize that the British sailors' release had nothing to with Ahmadenijad's so-called "Easter present to the British people." Over at Newsmax.com, Iran expert Ken Timmerman says their release had everything to do with
a show of U.S. naval power. in the Persian Gulf. The Times of London says Ahmadenijad was the loser in a
power struggle between Iranian government hardliners and not-quite-as-hardline-but-still-very, very-hardline hardliners. Time magazine
says either Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini or chief international negotiator Ali Larijani ordered the Brits' release. Syria, meanwhile, says it
played a part as well.
Whatever the case, it's a relief to see the sailors return home to their families. Unfortunately, I fear that the damage done to Britain's reputation due to its
timid response during this ordeal will only serve to encourage future jiahdist attacks against the once-proud country.
