CBNNews.com - Following the Virginia Tech tragedy campus scares seem to be popping up more frequently, with a week of lockdowns and evacuations taking place at schools around the country.

The latest incident involves Kalamazoo Valley Community College, which - after receiving a threat posted on a blog - shut down its campus and cancelled classes through the end of week.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Michael Bowen was tight lipped about the contents of the blog.

"We were contacted by state law enforcement authorities and made aware of a very specific threat to our campus," said the college's vice president Michael R. Collins in a statement. "As a result, we are canceling classes for today and through the weekend and are actively working with local law enforcement agencies to resolve the situation."

Point Park University in Pittsburgh got more than a threat on Thursday morning when a man was shot nearby the campus.

The victim took at least two shots to the chest before the perpetrator fled in a stolen vehicle, according to police commander Tom Stangrecki.

Following the incident the faculty and staff were informed by e-mail that the campus was being put on a partial lockdown. It lasted close to an hour.

A school spokeswoman was left a message that as yet has not been returned, according to the Associated Press.

Finally, eight buildings at the University of Minnesota were evacuated following a bomb threat Thursday.

However, after a six-hour search, nothing unusual was found, said university police Chief Greg Hestness. The campus has since been reopened.
