CBNNews.com - A Hamas-run kids' show starring a Mickey Mouse look-a-like who preaches global Islamic domination to children and calls them to fight against Israel continued to air today, despite calls for it to be pulled.
The Palestinian government had urged the Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV to drop the show featuring a character named "Farfur." Children called in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.
"You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists," Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. "We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers."
Several groups have condemned the Al-Aqsa program over calls made by the character and by a little girl on the show for resistance against Israel and the United States. Friday's episode included Islamic songs and calls for cities in Israel to return to Palestine, Brietbart.com reported.
"I'm calling on all children to read more and more to prepare for exams because the Jews don't want us to learn," Farfur said.
Al-Aqsa's board chairman said he refused to change the show's content.
"This campaign of criticism is part of a plan orchestrated by the West and the occupying power to attack Islam on the one hand and the Palestinian cause on the other," he said.
Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti characterized Farfour as a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian fight against Israel's occupation.
Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S.
