Giuliani, Brownback React to Falwell's Death

So I’m sitting here at my desk in Washington and who calls? Senator Sam Brownback. As you know he’s down in South Carolina tonight for the GOP debate but he wanted to call me personally and express his feelings about Jerry Falwell. First, here’s his statement that he released to the press:
“Today, America lost a true spiritual leader and a man of great faith in Jerry Falwell. His great words and actions will never be forgotten by the hundreds of thousands of people around the world that his life has touched. Jerry's moral character and principle will forever be remembered deep within my heart and those whose lives were so blessed to be touched by him.”
Senator Brownback went on to tell me over the phone that Falwell was a wonderful man who made enormous contributions to society and that America owes him a debt of gratitude because he was the one who started the discussion of bringing back what Brownback called, “Sunday School values” in our society. Brownback believes Falwell’s legacy will live on as the GOP primary continues. He believes that Falwell will be mentioned and talked about tonight.
Rudy Giuliani’s campaign also sent out a release on Falwell. Here’s what it said:
“I express my condolences to his family, Reverend Falwell’s family, and to his much larger family …He was a man who set a direction. He was someone who was not afraid to speak his mind. We all have great respect for him … he is a person who told you what he thought and you knew where he stood. … My sympathies and my prayers go out to his family…”
