CBNNews.com - Leading pro-life supporters have blamed Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson for failing to represent a decision made by the Supreme Court which upheld a late-term abortion ban.

Dobson was attacked Wednesday in the Colorado Springs' newspaper, The Gazette, through a full-page advertisement. He was accused by leaders of four anti-abortion organizations of incorrectly interpreting an April ruling by the court as being a clear win for pro-life advocates.

It is stated in the ad that medical professionals will be motivated by the ruling to offer "less shocking" ways than late-term abortions.

"Dr. Dobson, you mislead Christians claiming this ruling will 'protect children.' The court granted no authority to save the life of even a single child," reads the ad. The closing statement calls Dr. Dobson to "please repent."

According to spokeswoman Carrie Gordon Earll, Focus does not intend on retracting its stance on the ruling by the Supreme Court.

"It is a step in the right direction on several levels," commented Earll, showing no discouragement from the ad. "From time to time, people disagree, and most certainly, criticism is part of being in leadership. We make the best decisions we can and move on."

Colorado Right to Life president Brian Rohrbouhh, Operation Rescue/Operation Save America director Flip Benham, Human Life International president Tom Euteneuer, American Life League president Judie Brown and Denver Bible Church pastor Bob Enyart all signed the letter to Dr. Dobson.

Focus on the Family was given the chance to retract its position, but refused to do so, said Rohrbough, who claims he approached the group with other signers. This spurred him to make the letter public.

Other than receiving the letter before it was published, Earll said that she had no knowledge of any contact from the pro-life leaders.
