CBNNews.com - NEW YORK - He was the informant who led to the busting of the alleged plot to blow up Kennedy Airport: a convicted drug dealer who agreed to pose as an aspiring terrorist in exchange for a lighter sentence.

According to court papers and investigators, the man made surveillance trips to the airport with the suspects and traveled abroad to meet with supporters. He assured the suspects he wanted to die as a martyr in a planned attack on an underground jet fuel pipeline leading to JFK.

His help gave counterterrorism agents insight and evidence that was otherwise unattainable. It also showed the growing importance of informants in the war on terrorism as smaller radical groups become more aggressive.

According to the complaint, one of the four suspects thought the informant "had been sent by Allah to be the one" to pull off the bombing.
