FDA Won't Review Safety of Aspartame
CBN News
June 27, 2007
CBNNews.com - The Food And Drug Administration says it will not review the safety of aspartame despite new concerns.
Last week Italian scientists published research suggesting aspartame raises the risk of certain cancers.

Aspartame is commonly used as a sweetener in soft drinks or in packets for coffee and tea.
They found higher levels of leukemia, lymphoma, and breast cancer in more than 4,000 lab animals.
The FDA says it still insists that "aspartame is safe as a general purpose sweetener in food."
But health advocates says people should avoid the products if possible.
