CBNNews.com - In an interview published in the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said some details of the prisoner exchange for captured Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Corporal Gilad Shalit have been worked out already.
Mubarak said Israel had agreed to release between 400 and 500 prisoners for Shalit's return, but negotiations over who will be released are ongoing.
Israel refuses to release Palestinian prisoners "with blood on their hands," convicted of murdering Israelis.
When Hamas conquered the Gaza Strip two weeks ago, Egyptian mediators in Gaza left, ending talks on a prisoner exchange.
"When things calm down in Gaza, the security delegation will return," Mubarak said, "and we'll continue the mission," adding that most of the work had already been done.
"The deal will remain in the same format, and the numbers won't go up," he said.
On Monday, Shalit's captors posted an audio message read by Shalit on an Islamic Web site.
