CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - In Friday's final episode on Hamas satellite television, featuring "Farfur," an Islamic version of Mickey Mouse, Palestinian children watched their friend die at the hand of an "Israeli official," who beat him to death.
The storyline evolves around a land deed that Farfur receives from his grandfather. When an Israeli official shows up, he tries to coerce Farfur into turning over the documents.
When Farfur refuses, the Israeli attacks him and beats him up.
Saraa', the show's teenage hostess, tells the children their friend has died a
Shahid (martyr) at the hands of a brutal enemy.
"Yes, children...we lost our dearest friend, Farfur, who was martyred while defending his land and died at the hand of the criminals and murderers, the murderers of innocent children," Saraa' says.
Following are some excerpts from the dialogue, reprinted from Palestinian Media Watch.
Israeli: "Sit down, Farfur...Farfur, we want to buy the land. We will give you a lot of money. You will get a lot of money and we will take the documents."
Farfur: "No! We will not sell our land to terrorists!"
Israeli: "Fafur, I want you to give me the documents -- give me the documents!"
Farfur: "I'm not giving the documents! Not giving! Not giving!"
Israeli: "Farfur! [Interrogator beats Farfur] Farfur! Hand me the documents!"
Farfour: "I'm not handing them to criminals, to terrorists!"
Israeli: "You call us terrorists Farfur?" [Israeli beats Farfur again] "Take this! Take this! Take this!"
Farfur: "Stop! Stop!"
At this point in the program, Saraa' takes a call from a three-year-old child.
Saraa' to the child caller: "You saw that the Jews let Farfur die as a Shahid. What do you want to say to the Jews?"
Three-year-old on the phone: "We don't like the Jews because they are dogs! We will fight them!"
Saraa': "No, the Jews are good...the Jews are our friends and we play with them. Isn't that so?"
Child: "They killed Farfur!"
Saraa: "That's right...the Jews are criminals and enemies. We must expel them from our land."
And so ends the story of Farfur, with his martyrdom at the hands of the Israeli enemy deeply embedded in the hearts and minds of Palestinian children.
Mohammed Bilel, the station's manager said new children's programming would replace "Tomorrow's Pioneers," featuring the Mickey Mouse look-alike, but he didn't yet know what that would be.
