Brody File Readers React to Obama Interview

July 31, 2007

The Brody File Mailbag

You know that here at The Brody File, we post reader comments all the time. Below is a representative sampling of what people are saying about Barack Obama's answers to my questions the other day.

From Carlos:

"I honestly respect this man greatly. I used to consider myself a conservative then a liberal but I think I found my spot in the center. I feel that Jesus never wanted us Christians to separate ourselves from others, especially by political party - It is for this reason that I consider myself neither democrat nor republican in every situation… I believe that especially compared to the conservative side, he might not "fight" for all the "Christian values" in politics, but he most embodies Christian values in his real life"

From Max:

"For the first time in my lifetime, it seems as though the most authentic Christian in the race is a Democrat. I don't agree with him on every issue, but I like that he seems to empathize with those who disagree with him and understand where they're coming from. That's a refreshing change from the politics of demonization we've seen from both the left and right recently. I hope Obama will continue to interact with us as the Presidential race continues."

From CJ:

"Again, as always Senator Obama proves with his answers to your questions why he will be a refreshing change for this country, a true leader who could very well bring us all back together, something this country so desperately needs. When I hear him talk, or read his words I think of "hope", and I think nothing about his "past experience". After all, the current President was supposed to be so "experienced" and look at the mess this country is in now."

From Anonymous:

"Regarding Senator Obama's answers to your questions. Sometimes he just makes me nervous. I pray and say, Lord just don't let him say something, that can't be explained. LOL! I don't agree with everything the Senator has said and done throughout his Presidential campaign about I have come to realize that he is that same Dreamer that President Kennedy, Senator Bobby Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and President Ronald Reagan were. He believes with all his heart that the World can actually be different. He has made a believer out of me too."

From Robert:

"I find it intriguing that Obama used the name progressive instead of liberal. I would call his type of silver-tongued deception regressive. He never really answered any of the questions. Obama is the epitome of a humanist."

From Maria:

"I thought he was very sincere in his response but that he has little understanding that this nation was founded as a christian nation even though it already had other peoples with other religions while it was founded and I'm sure they knew it. This country was full of people when they got here to begin with. It was not an empty land. Many people from many countries came at the same time. Our founding fathers knew they were a small amount of christian believers at that time just like it is now. They chose to keep this country as a christian nation free to worship God, one God, the God of Abraham, Jacob and David no hindus, no muslims, no budist, etc. Why does Mr. Obama think that it should evolve?"
