Will Olmert Divide Jerusalem?
September 20, 2007
For years, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert served as the mayor of Jerusalem. On numerous occasions, he declared the city was the eternal capital of Israel never to be divided. But in just the past few days, it's been reported that Haim Ramon, Olmert's Vice Premier and one of the negotiators with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has proposed dividing Jerusalem between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
For our story for CBN News, we interviewed Dore Gold, the author of The Fight for Jerusalem and the director of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Gold also served as Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations and participated in many negotiations with the Palestinians.
In this interview, Gold discusses the enormous ramifications to Israel, the Jewish people and the world if the Olmert government divides Jerusalem.
