Spending Money on Global Warming is Dumb

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush called on the world's worst polluters Friday to come together to set a goal for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing the climate to heat up. He didn't exempt his own country from the list.
"By setting this goal, we acknowledge there is a problem, and by setting this goal, we commit ourselves to doing something about it," Bush said in a speech that capped two days of talks at a White House-sponsored climate change conference. "We share a common responsibility: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while keeping our economies growing."
I feel so tired. Has the modern day flat-earth theory won? Is further resistance futile?
The “world’s worst polluters” ? Cows? Volcanoes? China? (If you think China will curb economic growth to help lower the global temperature by .07 Celsius, which is not measurable, I've got some swamp land in Florida for you.)
And Bush apparently joins the world leaders calling CO2 a "pollutant." But, funny thing, it’s an amazing pollutant because plants thrive on it. And its benefits ripple through the food chain, helping all life. Truth is stranger than fiction, I know.
Perhaps, like the Peace Corp launched generations ago, President Bush can launch “Americans Against Gas”, with the mission of sending out patriotic volunteers to strap bags to the rears of cows to stop the scourge of bovine flatulence. At the announcement, he could surround himself with Americans from all walks of life, and someone in a cow costume.
Is the earth warming? Yes.
Is some ice melting? Yes.
Is some new ice being formed? Yes.
Was the earth warmer thousands of years ago, before the industrial age ever emitted one molecule of CO2? Yes.
Will it be colder someday? Unless the weather has suddenly decided to stop running in cycles, global cooling is a certainty.
Are ice ages miserable? Yep.
The boomers are in charge now, and they continue to root for their doomsday.
Just don’t let it spoil your mood. And don’t ditch your woolies. Enjoy the warmth.
