In 2001, George Bush met Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time and said "I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

 

Having covered Russia and the Soviet Union as a reporter, and being familiar with Putin’s ilk, I remember thinking then, “hmmm…I think Bush is being naïve, but who knows?”

 

We now know that Bush, ever the idealist about human beings, was scammed by the former KGB man.

 

Putin continues to stick little daggers into the U.S. at every opportune moment. He’s threatened to target Western Europe with missiles. His navy is building a military port in Syria, junior partner in the axis of evil. And today he stood in solidarity with the nutty and dangerous Iranian President Ahmadinejad against the U.S.

 

Putin demonstrates how you fight an enemy who has a better military than you have; with lots of little daggers.
