CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - The commander of the military wing of the Hamas terror group is warning that they will strike at the heart of Israel soon.
Speaking from the Arab city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, Sheikh Ahmed Hamdan brought a message from the terror chief, who has been in hiding since 1992.
"The Izz al-Din al-Kassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, plans to begin its attack against the Israeli occupation in the coming weeks," Hamdan said. Muhammad Deif is the commander of Izz al-Din Kassam Brigades, Hamas' military brigade.
"Deif promised me that the Izz al-Din al-Kassam Brigades will hit the Zionist enemy hard," he said.
"The organization has completed its preparations and is only waiting for orders," Hamdan said.
Deif, who has planned numerous suicide bombing attacks that killed dozens of Israelis, took over Izz al-Din after Israel targeted its former commander Yehya Ayash, nicknamed "the engineer."
For years, Deif has been on Israel's most wanted list. It is rumored that he lost an eye and may have suffered brain damage in one of the targeted attacks by Israel.
Deif was interviewed in a film aired recently on al-Jazeera television.
"All land conquered in 1948 is Palestine's land. Every Muslim in the world has the right and duty to fight in order to liberate this land because it is Muslim land," he said in the interview.
"We are a nation that has been defeated, deprived and expelled from our lands, and we are operating to obtain what we deserve -- what we had before 1948. Then there was no state called Israel. This occupation state was founded due to a United Nations decision," he said.
The film also featured Hamas operative Ahmed Jabri.
"The Jew who came to the land of Palestine is a murderer and an occupier, and he is the one we fight. We have no connection to the Jew living in his synagogue in Britain or America. If he comes here, we will fight him," Jabri said.
"We are a combat movement, which will safeguard its weapons until the liberation of the entire Palestine. Therefore, we will continue our operations until the liberation is completed," he said.
"We will help our brothers in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] as much as we can so they are liberated like we in Gaza are liberated," he said.
