The leader of the opposition to the planned London mega-mosque, Councilor Alan Craig, has had his life threatened on YouTube.

The video “obituary” of Mr. Craig was, as of this writing, still up on the site.

The Islamic group Tablighi Jamaat wants to erect the mega-mosque in Newham near the 2012 Olympic site. For background on the mega-mosque, you can view our news story, which includes comments from Alan Craig, here.

I visited Councilor Craig last year at his home in London’s east end. He is man of integrity who has given much of his life in service to God and man.

The London Times says that the video death threat was posted 4 months ago by "abdullah1425", a 23-year-old man named Muhammad from Stevenage. The Times reports that up until this week, the video was promoted on the mega-mosque's website "via a link to material supporting the project." 

The video ends with the words: “The mosque will be built in time for the 2012 Olympic Games. We must ask Allah to strengthen us.”
