Hamas: 'Abbas is a traitor'

CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Senior Hamas officials called Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas a traitor for attending the peace conference in Annapolis.

"The land of Palestine is purely owned by the Palestinians," Mahmoud al-Zahar told some 2,000 Palestinians at a conference in Gaza City protesting the meeting in Annapolis. "No person, group, government or generation has the right to give up one inch of it," he said.

"Anyone who stands in the face of resistance or fights it or cooperates with the occupation against it is a traitor," he said.

"The people believe that this conference is fruitless and that any recommendations or commitments made at the conference, which harms our rights, will not be binding for our people," al-Zahar said. "It will only be binding on those who sign it," he said.

Islamic Jihad Calls for 'patience'

Mohammed al-Hindi, a senior member of Fatah-affiliated Islamic Jihad, told participants that "patience…will change the rules of the game."

"This conference is to announce the rise of the Palestinian people, who will not beg for their rights," al-Hindi said. "Our jihad ['holy' war] and sacrifice will bring us the great victory we are looking for," he said.

The peace conference being held in Annapolis, al-Hindi said, promotes a "false illusion of a Palestinian state that "would be divided and surrounded by Israel."

Popular Resistance Committee Calls for Kassams

Meanwhile on Tuesday morning, the Popular Resistance Committee (PRC) announced operation "Autumn Storm," which according to the Gaza-based terror group, will bring a renewed barrage of Kassem rockets on the southern Israeli communities, such as Sderot, during the conference.

"The Annapolis Conference has been called the 'autumn conference' and leaves fall in the autumn. Therefore our missiles will also fall on Israel," said PRC spokesman Abu Abir.

"We are sure that the masks will fall off the faces of the conference participants, and all will see their conspiracy against the interests of the Palestinian people," he said.
