CBNNews.com - WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Monday, Jewish and Christian leaders from Israel and the U.S. met with the Bush administration's national security advisor Stephen Bradley and other senior government officials.

The discussion centered on the U.S.-sponsored meeting taking place in Annapolis, with emphasis on the irrefutability of Jerusalem as the eternal and undivided capital of the Jewish state.

According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, Hadley said the U.S. had not pressured Israel to attend the Annapolis meeting and intimated that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was "the enthusiastic partner behind this process."

Nathan Diament, policy director of the Orthodox Union, who led the delegation of Jewish and Israeli leaders to the meeting, said the group had "a constructive and meaningful conversation with Mr. Hadley and other White House senior officials."

But at a press conference earlier in the day, the Israeli prime minister categorically rejected the concept that the status of Jerusalem is a Jewish issue, not just an Israeli issue.

Olmert told reporters that "the government of Israel has a sovereign right to negotiate anything on behalf of Israel."
