Joe Biden on Secretary of State Talk
November 28, 2007
He's heard the whispers. "Joe Biden would make a great Secretary of State." Even though he's running for President, some folks out there are already planting the idea that Secretary of State may be in Biden's future. Heck, he has the credentials for that job but that talk makes him a tad bit nauseous. I asked him about it in my one on one interview Tuesday in Allison, Iowa. Watch above and read below. Do you see the swipe at the Clinton campaign?
Brody: Do you get frustrated sometimes on the whole secretary of state talk. You're running for President of the United States, your straight shooter. Tell me that isn't somewhat of a backhanded compliment, or an insult. How do you take it?
Biden: I do get frustrated because it says to me they really don't want to debate me, and so the best thing is if you can't beat him join him, these are my friends too.
See, here's what I think is going on - you Iowans like us all. If you look at the polling data… probably the Republican side too, I don't know, but on the Democratic side.
So I think here's this kind of a sell out there coming from the Clinton camp that you can have me as president, you can probably have Barack as vice president and you can Biden as secretary of state. You can have it all.
Brody: It's a packaged deal.
Biden: It's packaged deal.
