Police delayed their announcement, originally slated for two days before the Annapolis conference, after several members of Knesset and other unnamed Israeli officials recommended waiting until after the conference.

On Thursday, police cancelled a press conference in line with the low profile maintained during the investigation.

The Bank Leumi affair alleged that while serving as acting finance minister, Olmert altered a government tender on behalf of his close personal friends, Australian businessman Frank Lowry and Daniel Abrams, in the privatization of the bank.

The prime minister is facing three more criminal investigations involving the purchase of his personal residence on Cremieux Street in Jerusalem and cronyism during his term as industry, trade and labor minister in the Sharon government.
