CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Should Israel launch a large incursion into the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction will fight alongside their Hamas brethren.
"Fatah will fight alongside all the Palestinian groups against the Israeli army when it invades the Gaza Strip," said senior Fatah member Kadoura Fares. "In such a case, Hamas won't be left alone in the confrontation with Israel," he said.
PA officials said that peace negotiations with Israel, slated to resume in mid-December, would be called off if the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) expands its operations in the Gaza Strip.
"Our message is very clear," one PA official told Jerusalem Post Palestinian Affairs correspondent Khaled Abu Toameh.
"An Israeli military escalation will sabotage the peace process and all that was achieved at the Annapolis conference. We're not going to negotiate with Israelis while their tanks are inside the Gaza Strip. Our people will spit in our faces," he said according to The Jerusalem Post.
The IDF's counter-terror operations in Gaza are aimed at ferreting out terrorist cells and their facilities -- explosive factories, weapons warehouses, rocket-launchers, smuggling tunnels and the like.
