CBNNews.com - PETAH TIKVAH, Israel - Israeli transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz warned the government against negotiating with Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
Speaking to a gathering of the Kadima party members in Petah Tivah, the former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of general staff, who also served as defense minister in the Sharon government, said Abbas lacks the ability to implement anything on the ground.
"I wouldn't discuss the core issues unless Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas's
nom de guerre] had control over all the cities in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] and Gaza Strip," Mofaz told members of his party.
Mofaz also took issue with the recent U.S. assessment on Iran's nuclear capabilities, saying that economic sanctions should be imposed on the Iranian regime.
"We still need sanctions with all the options on the table," said Mofaz. "I hope this is what is decided in the next meeting with the strategic dialogue in Israel in January," he said.
