And the Winner Is . . . . Ron Paul

December 19, 2007

If you had told me a year ago that my most popular blog would be about a politician I barely knew existed, I would have laughed.  But sure enough, the Ron Paul revolution has swept through China Connection.

It's pretty remarkable that  China and the Candidates: Ron Paul was my most popular blog of the year, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not nearly as impressive as Paul's ability to raise $6 million in just 24 hours or the extreme passion of his supporters.

While I can't say that a Ron Paul presidency would be particularly popular with the Chinese government, which he has called "one of the most brutal, anti-American regimes in the world," from an economic standpoint, he would fight for free markets and lowering trade barriers.

Although Ron Paul has blown away the competition for this blog he has a much tougher race ahead of him this year.  Will he do it?  Only time will tell, but if he can be the most popular topic on a blog about China, anything can happen.

***My sincerest apologies to fans of the other candidates who remain to be featured in the "China and the Candidates" series.  It's possible that another presidential hopeful will garner more hits than Paul, but the other blogs dealing with China and the presidential race haven't even cracked the top 20, so I'm not betting on that.  Don't worry, there will be more China and the Candidates soon, so everyone will get a fair chance!
