CBNNews.com - For the first time during his term in office, President Bush will pay a visit to Saudi Arabia, according to a Saudi diplomat.

On January 14, King Abdullah is expected to try and convince the president that the United States should press Israel to terminate its plans for settlements in areas considered to be Palestinian territories.

But the king's urging will not stop there.

Abdullah's pro-Islamic agenda will also include pleading with President Bush to put pressure on Israel to establish a Palestinian state.

Next week, the president will embark on a Mideast tour spanning nine days. It is reported that the trip has been scheduled to tie up matters left unresolved at last year's peace conference in Annapolis, Maryland, which focused on Middle Eastern tensions, including the dividing up of Jerusalem.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert began negotiating with the Palestinian president after the Annapolis conference took place last November.

Some kind of agreement between the two Middle East leaders is expected to take place before the end of this year.
