What Would Bush's Vision for a Palestinian State Mean?

January 8, 2008

Watch Low Band

President Bush arrives here on Wednesday. To prepare, Israel is currently in the midst of its biggest logistical operation since the visit of Pope John Paul II in the year 2000.

It's literally taking an army to get ready for his visit.

One major reason for the visit is to push forward his vision of establishing a Palestinian state "living side by side with Israel in peace and security."

It sounds like a lofty goal but many people here wonder if it will ever work on the ground. We aired a story today about the dangers it might pose to the security of the state of Israel. In that story, we interviewed someone on the front lines of any future Palestinian State. Her name is Sondra Oster Baras from "Christian Friends of Israeli Communities." She lives in a community called Karnei Shomron and she would be directly affected by the implementation of President Bush's vision.

You can listen to more of her reasons why a Palestinian State, under current conditions might well mean more terror. She also expounds on why she and tens of thousands of other Jews like her choose to live in the land the Bible calls Judea and Samaria.
