Bush Bearing 'Gifts' to Saudis

CBNNews.com - When U.S. President George Bush arrives in Saudi Arabia on January 15, he'll come bearing a $20 billion arms package for King Abdullah.

According to The Jerusalem Post, the Bush administration got a day's grace, moving the formal announcement to Congress up one day to be able to present the package upon arrival in the Saudi capital.

Among the weapons America is supplying to the Saudis are JDAMs (Joint Direct Attack Munitions), known as smart bombs.

To retain its qualitative edge over potential attackers, Israel hopes to acquire two more advanced JDAMs: a laser-guided model and another equipped to override electronic jamming systems.

According to the Bush administration, arming Saudi Arabia will counter the Iranian threat.
