CBNNews.com - For the second time in less than a month, fertilizer used to manufacture explosives was being transported to Gaza on a truck designated for humanitarian aid.

Israel Airport Authority security staff discovered the large shipment of chemicals during a random vehicle inspection at the Kerem Shalom Crossing at the southern end of the border with the Gaza Strip.

The Defense Department has not released information on the origins or specific destination of the shipment, though attempts to smuggle explosive materials into Gaza are on the increase.

"As we've seen in the past, terror groups will stop at nothing to carry out their plans. We have seen a number of attacks against the crossings themselves, the Karni goods crossing has been closed for several months because of this - and it is the Palestinians who ultimately suffer from this," said one security officer.

On December 30, 6.5 tons of potassium nitrate were hidden in bags of sugar labeled as humanitarian aid from the European Union, Gaza's largest source of aid.
