Economy Keeping Financial Ministries Busy

CBNNews.com - Economic uncertainty has put many Christian financial ministries on overdrive. One of the biggest--Crown Financial--says inquiries are up 75 percent.
Like other Americans--Christians are taking a closer look at their budgets these days. and they're turning to a trusted resource: financial ministries.
One of the most well-known, Crown Financial, says e-mail inquiries are up 75 percent this month--compared to last january. Crown is urging people to approach their money problems with integrity and to seek godly counsel. The Bible is a great place to start.
"It's incredibly practical. Obviously it doesn't deal with home mortgages and Roth IRAs and that sort of thing," explained Howard Dayton of Crown Financial. "But the basic fundamentals are there."
Keith Kiser and Terri Lampman say their church financial ministry made a huge difference. Before they started a support group at Willowcreek Church they were $90,000 in debt.
"Before it was just money. It was paper. You earn it, you spend it. It goes in and out. Now, it's like, ok, God (has) given me this. How does He want me to spend it?" Lampman said.
The two now help other financial strugglers at Willowcreek--and the church reports calls are up there as well. For many with no financial cushion, the economy has pushed them over the edge.
For Terri and Keith, the benefits of integrating their finances and faith are clear: a closer walk with God, a better marriage and a huge spiritual burden--lifted.
