Obama's Ex-Pastor Cancels more Scheduled Appearances

DALLAS - The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, presidential candidate Barack Obama's controversial former pastor, has canceled plans to accept an award in Texas this weekend.

The Brite Divinity School says Wright will still be honored, even though he won't attend its State of the Black Church Summit and awards banquet in Dallas on Saturday.

The divinity school is on the campus of Texas Christian University but governed separately. After Brite said it would honor Wright, TCU officials -- citing security concerns -- said they opposed the decision and told Brite to move the event elsewhere.

Wright also has canceled plans to speak at three services in a Houston church Sunday, and several days of sermons he was scheduled to deliver this week at a church in Tampa, Florida.
