CBNNews.com - Following sentencing for the murder of an Israeli border guard in 2000, a Palestinian Authority (PA) police officer said when he's freed in a future prisoner exchange, he'll kill again.
The Salem Military Court sentenced Na'al Yassin to life in prison, plus 30 years, to be served consecutively.
On September 29, 2000, Yassin participated in a joint patrol with a PA police unit and an Israeli Border Guard unit.
Two patrol cars, one belonging to the Palestinian police and the other to the Border Guard, parked next to one another outside the PA-controlled city of Kalkilya.
Without warning, Yassin jumped from the patrol car shouting Allah Akbar (Allah is greater) and opened fire, killing Border Guard Yossi Tabuyah, wounding another and continuing to fire at both vehicles.
At the trial, a member of the prosecution called the event "an atrocity that no words can describe" and Yassin "an animal who hates life."
"In addition to Tabija [the Israeli whom he killed], he attempted to murder his patrol colleagues without hesitation and in cold blood," he said.
"His ambitions can be summed up in one sentence: Kill, kill, kill, as many innocent people as possible," the prosecutor concluded.
