It took less than five hours for the first terror attack to occur after the dismantling of a checkpoint in Samaria. An Arab university student was shot to death after attacking two Israelis with a knife at a hitchhiking post.

Israel's determination to comply with US demands to dismantle checkpoints will leave local Jewish families more vulnerable to terror attacks by armed Palestinians with ill intentions.

Along with dismantling checkpoints, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak agreed to release 25 armored vehicles, donated by Russia, to Palestinian Authority security forces, along with Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition and other military paraphernalia.
