Shin Bet Foils Palestinians' Poison Plot

CBNNews.com - RAMAT GAN, Israel - The Shin Bet (General Security Agency) foiled a plot by two Palestinians from Nablus to poison food at a restaurant in Ramat Gan.
Aham Rial and Anas Salum, both 21, were employed by the Grill Restaurant in Ramat Gan in the Tel Aviv district, near the Diamond Exchange.
On March 19, the two, who were working illegally in Israel without the proper work permits, were arrested by the Shin Bet.
During interrogation, the two young men admitted to belonging to the al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigades, affiliated with Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.
Within days after their arrest, they would have received the odorless, tasteless poison from their superiors in the al-Aksa terror cell to lace the restaurant's food. This particular poison takes about four hours to kill those who ingested it.
According to Shin Bet, their al-Aksa handlers also planned to use the two to help a Palestinian suicide bomber enter Israel.
Shin Bet officials said Fatah-affiliated Palestinians in Nablus (biblical Shechem) were actively recruiting Arabs who work in Israel to carry out dozens of planned terror attacks.
A similar poisoning plot was thwarted in 2003, when three Israeli Arabs residing in Jerusalem, with ties to Hamas instead of Fatah, planned a mass poisoning at Café Rimon in the heart of the city.
They also plotted to lace food orders with an odorless, tasteless poison that would produce symptoms of a heart attack within 15 minutes.
These men are serving a five- to 10-year sentence, unless they're granted clemency in a future prisoner exchange.
