Pastor Wright: The Media is Unfair

CBNNews.com - WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, calls the media's treatment of him "unfair."
Wright spoke to PBS's Bill Moyers in his first interview since the controversy erupted over remarks made by Wright from the pulpit.
Controversial Pastor
The remarks of Wright from the pulpit of Trinity United Church caused controversy for what many said were anti-American and racist.
But in an interview with PBS airing tonight, he says the media is taking just small snippets from his sermons to cast him, his church and Obama in a negative light.
"I think they wanted to communicate that I am unpatriotic, that I am un-American, that I am filled with hate speech, that I have a cult at Trinity United Church of Christ. And, by the way, guess who goes to this church - hint, hint, hint?" Wright told PBS.
In response to the controversy, Obama gave a speech on race relations in this country and criticized his former pastor's remarks as divisive and not helpful.
So how did these comments go down with Wright?
"It went down very simply," Wright said. "He's a politician. I'm a pastor. I do what I do. He does what a politician does. So that what happened in Philadelphia - he had to respond to the soundbites, he responded as a politician."
Wright Controversy Far from Over
That politician is locked in a fierce battle with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.
But the Wright controversy isn't going away. The pastor will speak at the National Press Club here in Washington Monday.
