VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI says he's "suffering" and deeply concerned about conflicts raging in Africa.
During his traditional Sunday blessing, the pope called on politicians and the international community to end fighting in Somalia and Burundi and put a stop to the "endless tragedy" in Darfur.
Tens of thousands of pilgrims crowded into St. Peter's Square to hear his words.
Benedict also spoke about his recent trip to the United States, thanking American Catholics for renewing his hope and noting their "great vitality" and "decisive will to live their faith."
