ANDOVER, Minn. - Minnesota Democrats have nominated a former Methodist minister to run against conservative Christian Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Former Transportation Commissioner Elwyn Tinklenberg won the Democratic nod at a weekend convention despite concerns over his position on abortion. Tinklenberg calls himself "pro-life," but told the convention he would not support any restrictions on abortion.
Minnesota Democrats also endorsed Congressman Keith Ellison for re-election. He was the first Muslim, and is currently one of two Muslims, to be elected to Congress.
