SUFFOLK, Va. - The nondenominational Open Door Church in Suffolk, Virginia, is sheltering relief workers who are helping victims recover from Monday night's tornado.
Some of the first volunteers on the scene were from Operation Blessing, headquartered at the Christian Broadcasting Network in nearby Virginia Beach.
Operation Blessing president Bill Horan told CBN News that the ministry is preparing meals for victims and relief workers and sending in equipment to help clear debris.
The tornado severely damaged 145 homes and injured 200 people, and Horan says it's a miracle that no one was killed.
