SUFFOLK, Va. - Beth Catania says that when a tornado smashed into her Suffolk, Virginia, home on Monday, the closet she was in exploded and she was hurled from the wreckage.
Catania, who had prayed with her husband as the twister approached, recalled that as she tumbled, she kept repeating, "I'm alive. Thank you, Jesus."
When she and her husband were allowed to return Wednesday, Catania says there was a rain-soaked Bible opened to Psalm 75 on the foundation where their house had stood. Reading aloud, she says she felt its promise of God's protection explained her survival.
Now, Catania says she and her husband will "just wait and see what God has for us." She says God "has a new house for us somewhere. That's not a concern at all."
